About VSG

Sleeve Gastrectomy is a surgical weight loss tool in which the stomach is reduced to about 25% of its original size, by surgical removal of a large portion of the stomach, following the major curve. The open edges are then attached together (often with surgical staples, glue and possibly cauterization) to form a sleeve or tube with a banana shape. The procedure permanently reduces the size of the stomach and is performed laparoscopically and is not reversible.

Tell me I'm being stupid

I've never worried about this before in my life. Never. I still am well within the BMI range of normal at 144lbs. I still could lose another 25 lbs and be within that range (low end of the range, but in the range). For some reason, ever since I hit my goal weight, I really feel like I should be slowing down.

I've lost another 5lbs since Dec 22. That's 5 lbs in 2 weeks. And I've been really bad at getting my protein in (my bad, I know I know) AND I've been eating poorly when I do remember to eat. I still enjoy the no hunger benefit of the surgery... the only time I get hunger, its like a weird empty feeling more than real actual hunger. Most of the time I eat because I have to remind myself to do it, or someone reminds me to.

I also don't exercise. I really haven't since my surgery. Now, I'm kind of afraid to exercise because I don't want to spur further weight loss. How messed up am I... I literally was looking up how to GAIN weight online.

I don't know. I feel like I'm still losing pretty fast considering I've already lost the majority of the weight I can lose. Suddenly I'm worried that I won't be able to stop losing weight. :S

FMM: Goals for 2012

*Focus on strength training and being able to do the simple things again ... like open a water bottle without needing to use my teeth!

*Not let stress overcome me, think logically and clearly. Let my head, not my emotions (or reactions) make my decisions for how I act.

*Allow people in. Let others care for me and let me allow them to. No shutting out/down.

Happy 2012!

2012... here we are!

Last year was a year of physical changes... this year is one of geographic! This year will mark not only our 2 year wedding anniversary but also a 1 year WLS anniversary and a complete move to another province, new job and new lifestyle.

Here's to another year of growth and finding where and who I am ready to be in my new body and new life. Adding muscle to my frame for strength and adding a sense of well being to my emotional side for balance.

My new mantra for this year... we only have 1 life, enjoy every single moment of it. Don't wait for "later, tomorrow or when I retire..." do it NOW!
